POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid State of Alabama Drivers' License and be able to be insured by the AIDB insurance carrier.
  • A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment
  • Must have experience in landscape designs installation of designs, knowledge of equipment capabilities with respect to production within the environment and a general baseline knowledge industry standards on manpower production for an institutional grounds crew.
  • Musts possess the ability to supervise others.
  • Must maintain all the grounds for AIDB in a professional manner.
  • Must be physically able to perform assigned duties.
  • Must be able to understand and implement written and oral instructions.
  • Must have experience in landscape design and implementation.
  • Must be skilled and have general knowledge in all areas of grounds maintenance.
  • Must be able to read, work and interpret from architectural drawings and engineering prints.
  • Must be able to understand health & safety guidelines of hazardous materials or conditions to include an understanding of a remediation program.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous materials including fumes and airborne particles, toxic and nontoxic chemicals.
  • Must have general knowledge of principles applied in the care and use of tools and machinery, building components, hardware, flooring, ceramic tile, roof repair, preventative roof maintenance, and deep cleaning and maintenance programs.
  • Must possess or obtain Safe State Accreditation for Managing Asbestos in Schools and Building Course 1. Accreditation must be obtained within 9 months of employment.
  • Must have knowledge of chemicals and fertilizers necessary to maintain grounds.
  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Safe State Asbestos Management Planner Certification.
  • Safe State Lead Abatement Project Supervisor EPA certification.
  • Safe State Mold in Buildings Assessment and Remediation Certification.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate light-duty equipment such as, but not limited to weed- eaters, mowers, light tractors, etc.
  • Operate heavy duty landscape equipment such bushogs, backhoes and skidsteer loaders.
  • Perform routine tasks such as, but not limited to weeding, mowing, raking, hoeing, pruning, and mulching.
  • Supervise all groundsmen.
  • Collect and manage data regarding all health and safety conditions of the AIDB building, grounds, utility systems and hardscapes. Act as a point of contact for any EPA audit inquires and/or inspections, State of Alabama Risk Management Inspections, Environment Inspections by parties having jurisdiction and AIDB internal inspections by state authorities or local staff.
  • Assist PPD in Development, Implementation, and Monitoring of a Safety program.
    • This will include periodic Safety meetings for all of PPD.
  • Assist PPD in developing and updating existing sit maps and building floor plan drawings. Once plans are developed work to keep current with changes in layout, utility location-surface and subsurface, electrical transformers, gas meters, new building, fencing, HVAC unit location, count and type, fire plugs and building fire connection points. Cross reference with N-Side program and coordinate changes with N-Side program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
