Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the world's most comprehensive education, rehabilitation, and service program serving individuals of all ages who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind, and multidisabled and their families. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience working in information technology, computer science or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience managing an IT Department.
  • Experience with networking concepts including data based administration.
  • Experience in developing rapport with employees, campuses and departments, external agencies and individuals with sensory loss.
  • Experience practicing and enforcing a high level of confidentiality among supervised staff.
  • Experience presenting to and working with C-Suite level executives.
  • Experience with technology improvisation and finding workarounds in information operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating to audiences in an effective and clear manner.
  • Must be willing to travel statewide at least 25% of the time.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proven professional record demonstrating diligence related to project management and accuracy of work.
  • Experience in the supervision of staff and direct monitoring of program budgets.
  • A sign language proficiency level of Survival within 12 months of hire and Intermediate according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of hire.



PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance or closely related field from an accredited college/university.
  • CompTia A+ Certifications.
  • Experience with server virtualization and Oracle Enterprise Systems.
  • Chief Technology Program completion with a valid state supported program.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the administration of the IT department and personnel.
  • Set objectives and strategies for the IT department while ensuring that IT department strategies and processes support AIDB strategic plan.
  • Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) at AIDB to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive enterprise information security and data risk management and governance plan to protect information and technology assets owned and controlled by AIDB.
  • Direct and organize IT related projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies that can improve our services at AIDB.
  • Create and implement IT policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Develop and oversee the budget for the IT department.
  • Ensure that all technology used at AIDB is accessible for all staff and consumers who are Deaf, Blind, and DeafBlind.
  • Responsible for assessing all AIDB technology needs and developing plans for meeting those needs.
  • Responsible for establishing, implement and ensuring compliance with all state and federal technology security programs.
  • Ensure that IT staff are receive annual development to keep pace with technical advances.
  • Oversees implementation and integration of computer systems and software and recommends upgrades and systems and software for purchase.
  • Ensures adherence to government regulations and guidelines for technological systems and safeguarding of data.
  • Establishes maintenance checks and other technology infrastructure monitoring strategies.
  • Develops training documents for systems users, including info graphics, slide shows and video tutorials.
  • Develops and maintains the AIDB website.

SALARY: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 Scale A1 Rank 02

This is an exempt position, and is not subject to overtime or compensatory provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
