As a Substitute Teacher for Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind school system, you will be responsible for working in a specialized classroom. AIDB is committed to meeting our students where they are. The right candidate for this job will have a passion for working with students and colleagues to ensure all students receive a world-class education.
ABOUT YOU
You will play a vital role in the lives of our students and be a part of the miracles that happen every day at AIDB. This will be accomplished by demonstrating flexibility, a positive attitude, agility, and professional maturity.
Position Requirements:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be physically able to perform the job
- Must follow all AIDB policies and procedures and state and federal laws
- Must remain awake and alert at all times
- Must be able to adhere to confidentiality requirements
- Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
- Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Upon being offered employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD) Teacher Position will require a sign language proficiency minimum entry level of Survival Plus according to the AIDB evaluation system.
All applicants must provide documentation of sign language proficiency or take a sign language proficiency evaluation (SCPI available through AIDB).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs duties in the absence of full-time AIDB staff as required for the position including, but not limited to the following:
Substitute Teachers:
- Assumes the responsibility for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
- Assumes other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and other activities.
- Must have an Alabama Teaching Certificate or Alabama Substitute License.
- Other duties as assigned.
Payroll: $12.00 Alabama Substitute License
$20.00 Alabama Teacher Certification or AIDB Retired Teacher with a Substitute
License
